Quality of Life Part 5: Setting Standards

John Peponias

“If you don’t set a baseline standard for what you’ll accept in life, you’ll find it’s easy to slip into behaviors and attitudes or a quality of life that’s far below what you deserve.”

— Anthony Robbins

If you want to make real changes in your life you have to raise your standards. You have to demand more of yourself. You have to know what you’re tired of accepting in your life, know what you will not settle for, and who it is you aspire to become.

Make a list of these things if you have to! It’s a very powerful tool that will help you to clearly define your baseline standard, and will also make it easier for you to recognize where you are and where you need to be in terms of growth.

As you set out to take action and make the changes to your way of life, remember to use everything life gives you along the way; good, bad or indifferent. It’s part of the journey and will help you to focus in on where you can change your approach until you get what you want.

Your standards and way of life reflect your attitudes and values. Once you’re committed to living according to a higher standard, life can be extremely full and rewarding, as you ultimately define your own successes.
